In Conversation With: Black Women in Public Relations On PR Practice

You are invited to join us on April 17th to participate in a conversation on the experience and expertise of black female public relations practitioners with some of the UK’s experienced PR professionals.

You’ll be introduced to:

  • Results of academic research which informed the creation of BWPR

  • Share the vision and purpose for BWPR

  • Importance of academic research on Black Female PR practitioners

The Panel Discussion:

Professional PR panelists will deliver a brief talk on their experience and expertise

Followed by a panel discussion led by Ronke Lawal on:

  1. Perception of PR as a professional discipline: highlight what makes the industry one that should be respected in the same way as other professional sectors. Also have an honest conversation about the drawbacks.

  2. Discuss PR practice approach: in relation to the following sectors (independent, agency, corporate) and industries (beauty, tech)

  3. Getting into the industry: discuss practical steps to begin a career as a PR professional and the best ways of moving up the ladder are - or if starting a business/going freelance. Expect an honest discussion on what the journey can be like.
